We got a new teacher for linear algebra.
Last semester, it took me upwards of 10 - 15 hours to complete one assignment (10% of mark).
I just did one from this semester in less than 2 hours. Including chatting and singing along to music.
What a strange world we live in.

|
| Your Birthdate: June 3 | Being born on the 3rd day of the month is likely to add a good bit of vitality to your life. The energy of 3 allows you bounce back rapidly from setbacks, physical or mental. There is a restlessness in your nature, but you seem to be able to portray an easygoing, "couldn't care less" attitude.
You have a natural ability to express yourself in public, and you always make a very good impression. Good with words, you excel in writing, speaking, and possibly singing. You are energetic and always a good conversationalist.
You have a keen imagination, but you tend to scatter your energies and become involved with too may superficial matters. You are affectionate and loving, but sometimes too sensitive. You are subject to rapid ups and downs. |

6:23 pm - Sometimes I surprise myself by how much of a geek I am.
|
Want to read Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Price? Need to know where to get it? Some head to Chapters. Some head to the local book store. Others receive it as a gift, from parents or grandparents.
Where does Beth go?
Yes, ladies and gentleman, in less than a minute, I have downloaded the 3,226KB PDF file, containing the complete text of Harry Potter and the Hald-Blood Prince.
Sometimes I surprise myself.
And I don't even feel guilty, since my family also owns a copy. Plus, I was bound to do it EVENTUALLY.

7:42 am - A note on friendship
|
Several years ago, somewhere between the fifth and sixth grade I made a friend named Katie. Katie was a talented and very intelligent girl who could do anything she wanted with her life. She was smart enough to cure cancer, or find the last digit of pi. She was great with languages, and can speak three or so nowadays. She could have travelled the world, teaching English, and learning whatever she wanted. She had musical parents and played the violin like a pro. She could have been a concert violinest, or a singer, or a movie star.
Katie and I grew so close over our last year or so of elementary school. Before the fifth or sixth grade, I have never really noticed Katie, never taken the time to know her. But, by the end of those years, we were great friends.
Katie and I spent a summer making beaded necklaces. We read books, and did all sorts of things. I joined choir, where Katie sang, and we'd get to do concerts and things together.
By the time high school rolled around, I saw less and less of Katie. We are both busy people who have lengthy, complex social circles.
The great thing about Katie and I was that we know each other so well that somedays, she would call me up on Saturday morning, we would each talk about how long it had been since we've seen each other, and decide to walk downtown.
Katie and I would walk and talk as if no time had ever passed. We tell each other about everything we've been doing, and all that we were planning. There are no awkward pauses, and no gaps in our conversation. Katie and I loved being able to get together twice a year, and be the same friends we were in grade six, or throughout choir.
All my friends and I are graduating from high school this year. It may seem like we're leaving a hundred thousand people behind, but I think that we've all spent such immense amounts of time together that nothing can change the very fact that we are friends.
I don't worry about talking to everyone everyday. I know that I will be busy, and some days I may not have the chance to post on my livejournal, or send e-mails, or call on the telephone. At the same time, I know that even if we do loose touch, it will be okay, because a year or more from now, when we meet again, we will have dozens of exciting things to talk about, and we will both know that our friendships are affected by neither space, nor time.
Because that's what friendship is.

8:15 pm - The Lion's Curse
|
Several weeks ago we did an excercise in my Writer's Craft class where
we write a story. I wrote part of one and read it out loud but a lot of
my friends laughed at me because they thought I was joking. But I
wasn't joking. So I've finished the story, and here it is:
( The Lion's Curse )

Well. Today was a fairly good day. Calculus class is hard and I'm scared I will fail. I'm still in shock over passing the last test, though. We had a supply teacher in writer's craft. We were assigned this thing where we invent interesting opening lines. to, like, pull the reader in. Here's mine:
"I don't know why I did it, but I did. And I know that next time we have a supply teacher, I will probably do it again."
I was going to read it outloud, with firey eyes. But I decided not to.
Then after Writer's Craft I went out to Wimpy's for lunch. It was awesome. Then back to school where I sat around, etc.
Then for fourth period I went to the OSAP presentation thingy. Turns out I'm eligible for OSAP. And that's SUPERAWESOME :D
I was talking to Kate today on MSN and she's really, really excited about the specialevent tomorrow. It was overwhelming.
And that's pretty much it. Tomorrow is Friday. The weeks have been going by sooo quickly. I've spent a lot of time in the past could of days writing a story I started in WC class awhile ago. I read it in front of the class, and my friends laughed at me. It was mean :'(
Tamara says that lions are absurd. But I was totally serious. That is all.

Well. This weekend is a three-day weekend here in Canadia. It has been beautiful. Friday night I went to work, and then a good friend of mine picked me up and we went and hung out for awhile. We watched Slackers, one of my most favourite films. I also got, like, a lot of Calculus homework done, which is good. I was out until, like, 2 am. which is bad. whoops.
On Saturday I slept in lots. And my oldest brother came home. We hung out, ate supper. Good times, good times. Then I went shoppering for formal stuff. that was really fun, and I got pretty much everything.
I am sad, though, because my camera won't fit into my little purse thingy :'( I don't know what to do about it. Nicky says I don't have to put the Camera in the purse. I guess I don't. I coooould just drag it around with me. I dunno. I'll see.
Anyway, I superlove my jewlery and everything... Sooo beautiful.
Then on Sunday I went to visit my grandparents. That was good. Then I went home. And watched 'In Good Company'. And then I went and hung out with friends some more. I was only out until 12, which wasn't too late. We had fun.
Then today I did some DM homework. And I learned to play a couple of beeautiful songs on the guitar. And now I'm watching the taped versions of Alias. yay. Finny is watching with me.
Anyway. Anyone with suggestions about my purse camera problem, do comment. aaaand, that's my weekend. whoo.

American Cities That Best Fit You:
| 70% Austin |
60% Denver |
55% Atlanta | 55% Washington, DC |
50% Miami |
I think we ought to make a Canadian version of this. And it would be like, "How many months of the year would you like it to be wintertime for?" and the choices would be 12, 12, 12, 12, and 11.
hahahahaha.

Official Survivor Congratulations! You scored 75%! | Whether through ferocity or quickness, you made it out. You made the right choice most of the time, but you probably screwed up somewhere. Nobody's perfect, at least you're alive. | |
My test tracked 1 variable How you compared to other people your age and gender: | You scored higher than 89% on survivalpoints |
